DESIGN TRENDS

Mid Century Modern, Modern Farmhouse and Boho Style are still popular designs which have been updated this year. However, some of the new and increasingly popular design trends of 2023 are Biophilic Design, Gothic Design, 1970’s Decor and of course Sustainability.

BIOPHILIC DESIGN

Biophilic design is even bigger in 2023 for home décor styles. Initially a concept used in the building industry, it is now popular in our homes. Bring the natural life into your home with plants, pottery, baskets, natural seagrass, wooden tables, paintings, and nature colors like green and blue tones that are calming.

GOTHIC DESIGN

If you like a more theatrical look, Gothic Design is also popular this year. To create this cool look, use rich, dark moody colors on bedroom and living room walls as well as in accessories. Decorate using candles, colored glass, wrought iron chandelier, large beds, chests, arches, heavy drapery, and unique pieces-think medieval castle!

1970s DÉCOR

1970s décor is making a comeback this year. Earthy colours like green, orange, and yellow, bold wallpaper, bold patterns, plants, terrazzo tiles, rattan, macramé, brick walls and modular furniture create the look.

SUSTAINABILITY

Last but definitely NOT least… Sustainability is a top trend in 2023 as more and more people are becoming aware of the impact they personally have on the planet. This style is a way of connecting to the natural environment via furnishings and accents. There is a rise in popularity for recycled home décor products, furniture made from natural materials, antiques, second hand items, handmade items, and a color for walls that create a feeling of serenity. Buy sustainable products that will minimize environmental impact and are safe for your family.
